Later that night, when I was resting, I remembered how I made a mistake in the registration form. When I was filling the online form in the first place, I filled the hostel option correctly, but there was an option that I didn't know how to serve. So I canceled the form and called the IIT Delhi PG Help desk to confirm what to fill in that option. They provided me with the correct entry to fill, and I again started filling the online form. But it was this time that I forgot to cross-check the hostel option, which was selected to be day-scholar by default.
Now I skipped the orientation day cause I was upset and thinking about the hostel thing all day. I told my parents about everything, and they were a little worried too cause where would I live if I didn't get the hostel. On 20th July admission process was there, and I took Anupam with me to help me with the process. Anupam and Anivesh were also living in Delhi at that time, but they were very far away from where Anshuman's apartment was and from IIT. I took all the documents with me, and we waited for about half-hour in the room where admissions were about to happen. The process was speedy, and it took only 20 minutes to get all the documents verified.
After getting my documents verified, I was supposed to go for a photo clicking session for the Identity card, which was going on in some other room. But when I got there, I found out that I can't have my photo clicked for my Identity card as I did not have a temporary ID card with me. I got confused as I didn't know what a temporary ID card means, so I asked some students about it. They told me that it is a piece of paper given to new admission students on orientation day. Oh lord, what have I done again. I missed out on my orientation, and now I can't get my photo clicked, which was important. I asked a few staff members about it, who were there to help students, and they told me that I could get from the department on Monday that is on 22 July. Again I got home (Anshuman's Apartment) all tensed. I was also thinking about how long I would stay at Anshuman's cause it isn't right to bump into someone's place and live there for many days even if he is your friend, and that too when his brother is living with him in a small apartment.
